The Sandbox is a virtual world built on the Ethereum blockchain where players can build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences. It aims to be a metaverse where players can create a decentralized virtual worlds while also provides creators true ownership via non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and receive rewards in form of SAND token for their participation. The Sandbox consist of three main components: a Voxel Editor (VoxEdit), a Marketplace, and the Sandbox Game. VoxEdit allows anyone to create voxel objects and export them to the marketplace where it can be turned into ASSETS, a limited ERC-1155 token.

SAND is the main utility token for The Sandbox. It is used across the ecosystem for accessing The Sandbox platform, staking, fees and rewards, and also as a Foundation to support The Sandbox ecosystem. SAND holders can also participate in the governance of the ecosystem via Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO).
