Theta is a decentralized video-streaming network that powered by blockchain technology. It is an open source protocol created to power the decentralized streaming network and allows decentralized apps (Dapps) to be built on top of the platform in order to enable things like E-sports, conferencing, peer to peer streaming, and much more. Their vision is to provide high quality video streams, without buffering, and at the lowest possible cost. Theta introduces a new form of proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism known as Multi-Level Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT).

Theta network features a dual token design. The Theta token (THETA), act as a governance token of the Theta protocol while Theta Fuel (TFUEL) is similar to the gas used in the Ethereum network. TFUEL is an ERC-20 token and is being used as a reward token when staking and as payment to relayers for sharing a video stream.
