Balancer is a DeFi protocol for investors, traders and developers. It provides products for all three of these entities. These products revolves around the Balancer Pools and its protocol. Balancer has a variety of pools, depending on its use cases. Investors may choose any of the pools depending on their risk portfolio on the tokens in the pool. Investors may also create their own pool. Traders on Balancer use these pools to trade or swap between different tokens, paying fees on each swap. Balancer helps finding the best price by using its Smart Order Route which the swapping will hop between different pools created by the investors. Balancer also provides API for developers to build their own DeFi products on top of Balancer.
BAL is the governance token used in Balancer. BAL gives voting rights to its holder to decide for the protocols, fees and the future of Balancer. BAL is also used for swapping, investing and trading in Balancer Pools. BAL is an ERC-20 token with a maximum supply of 100 million tokens.
